La Palma - Consejo Regulador - Denominacion de Origen del Vino

Continuing towards the San Antonio Volcano, visitors will identify a construction made of volcanic stone situated on a small vineyard. This picturesque building is the Bodega – Restaurante ‘La Casa del Volcán’. Outside, a wine press of local ‘tea’ pine trees from 1919 is on display. This wine press becomes active in September, during the artisan elaboration of La Casa del Volcán’s wines. The main grape varietal grown is Bujariego, a white variety; the resulting whites are sold entirely at the premises.

This winery is the latest addition to La Palma’s Designation of Origin (DO). La Casa del Volcán is also home to a small family restaurant, established in 2009 with the main objective to preserve and add value to the local gastronomic products. Whenever the supply is available in the area, the restaurant will source the needed food produce from the local growers. At La Casa del Volcán, visitors will taste high quality products from La Palma blended in home style cooking.

Winery, restaurant, and house all combine to form an architectural unit that perfectly integrates with its surrounding fragile rural environment. At the winery’s point of sale, visitors will also have the opportunity to taste La Palma wines by the glass, or purchase them in bottles. In addition, there is a wide range of other products, from Fuencaliente salt, local liqueurs, mojos (local pepper sauces) to locally made handicrafts.
